Our Results of 2024 

At the end of the year, there is such a tradition as summing up the work year. So we, having received the consent of our clients to publish the facts and their objects of intellectual property rights, decided to share our achievements for 2024. 

Trademark registration 

In 2024, 832 applications were submitted for registration as a trademark to IP offices in different countries and 612 certificates were received. The priority submission is, of course, EUIPO.

Trademark registration in the United States ranks second. Yes, the attention of many entrepreneurs to business development in the States is actively gaining momentum. Third place is occupied by various European countries and according to our statistics this is plus or minus one link – Romania, Poland, Moldova, Hungary, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Czech Republic, Germany. Ukraine occupies only fourth place in this ranking. 

Our service for checking and registering trademarks is constantly expanding geographically. This year, based on requests from our clients, We have additionally introduced trademark registration services in Africa, namely: Tanzania, Tanganyika and Zanzibar under the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), Botswana, Eswatini, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho. Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. 

Thus, we constantly improve and maintain our status regarding the registration of trademarks in all countries of the world. 

Well known brand 

An important achievement of November 2024 is the recognition of a well-known trademark  

the largest Ukrainian fashion retailer of luxury and premium clothing, shoes, hats and accessories under world-famous brands. 

Work on this project has been going on since 2023. Such a long period is associated with the reform of the intellectual property system in Ukraine and the creation of a new competent body – the Appeals Chamber of the NOIP.

Of course, the entire Ukrainian team of SION IP took part in collecting and processing evidence, and Dr. represented the interests of the owner directly. Dr. Nataliia Riazanova – patent attorney of Ukraine, managing partner, PhD.

Patenting 

During this year, the patenting area was less active. But it is very pleasant that Ukrainian inventors have begun to defend their innovations abroad. Of course, the priority is given to the European and US patent procedures. 

The fighting in Ukraine also does not stop a foreign applicant. Thus, our reliable partners – research institutions in Poland, Romania, and Hungary quite actively continue to defend the technical results of research in Ukraine. 

I would like to pay special attention to the pharmaceutical industry and the active participation of our respective attorneys in the creation of patent applications for unique medicines. Mass production of these medicines, which have detoxifying, anti-inflammatory functions and improve heart function, will soon begin.   

In 2025, the SION IP team prepared and submitted 97 applications for inventions and 102 for utility models to patent offices in different countries. 84 patents received. 

Copyright 

The international copyright service has been at the forefront of the company’s service priorities for several years.

Thus, clients often order copyright deposits in the EU, Copyright House UK and registration with the US Library of Congress. Such services are relevant, first of all, for protecting copyrights on computer programs, NFT games, various databases, etc. 

A total of 346 applications were submitted for certificates of deposit and registration of copyrights and 332 certificates were received. 

Intellectual Property Valuation 

Development of an intellectual property protection strategy and assessment of intangible assets are in demand among our regular and new clients. Of course, brand evaluation is a priority. The second place is occupied by the assessment of the value of property copyrights to computer programs. Third are patents and know-how. 

Overall in 2024 The company’s appraisers conducted 171 studies to determine the market value of intellectual property, determine the royalty rate and to put it on the balance sheet of the enterprise. The expertise of appraisers covers more than 60 countries. 

Most orders to determine the market value of a trademark and determine the optimal royalty rate were carried out for EU countries on the basis of an EU trademark certificate. 

Blockchain, virtual reality, Metaverse

This direction is quite new in our company, but, as is already known, we have unique software with which you can protect the copyright of created NFT collections on various platforms such as OpenSea, Binance and others. Our software also helps track offenders on the Internet and remove pirated content. In 2024 our IT specialists helped with the release of 31 NFT collections using our software. 

Also, the result of the work in this area is the establishment of crypto payment systems on various online trading platforms and, of course, legal support for these processes – obtaining a crypto license, creating legal documentation (public offer, GDPR, etc.).

Judicial practice

In the last year, the priority for court cases has changed somewhat. Now the first place is occupied by microcredit cases, that is, disputes with banks and other financial institutions about the return of loan funds. Here, SION IP lawyer Yuri Marinichev has a significant practice and has helped more than 70 clients get rid of financial dependence this year. 

The second place is occupied by cases on the protection of intellectual property in the pharmaceutical sector. This is more about patent protection. But reputational cases have recently been gaining momentum – cases about protection, honor, dignity and business reputation. As a rule, the objects of these cases are controversial statements on social networks and others. 

Also, SION IP lawyers are engaged in pre-trial settlement of various controversial issues. In particular, this year, the priority of such cases arose regarding misunderstandings in the field of intellectual property. 

New technologies  

Summing up 2024 and huge demand for reputation services. Please note 

attention to the implementation, together with partners, of unique software for removing unwanted content on the Internet. This applies to securely deleting any content on any social network or browser. 

So, if any saying, article, photograph somehow violates the interests of the customer, such content can be deleted forever. 

In addition, at the end of this interesting year, we carried out a complete rebranding of SION IP, created a new design for our website, continue to work on automation and test artificial intelligence.
