Innovation, IP Protection, and Success: 2025 Recap and Holiday Greetings from SION IP

The end of the year is always a perfect time to look back on our journey and celebrate our achievements. For the world of intellectual property, 2025 was a year of rapid transformation: from new AI regulations to stronger global protection systems. We are thrilled that in this fast-paced world, our company remained your trusted guide.
Our Reach and Achievements
This year, we expanded our horizons to protect your ideas in every corner of the globe:
Global Presence: We successfully registered over 380 intellectual property objects across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Persian Gulf.
In 2025 alone, we filed 740 trademark applications with IP offices worldwide and received 296 certificates. Our top priority destinations remain the EUIPO and USPTO.
Our trademark verification and registration service keeps growing. This year, responding to your requests, we launched trademark registration services in Africa, including: Tanzania, Tanganyika, and Zanzibar (ARIPO), Botswana, Eswatini, the Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

A Well-Known Trademark
A major highlight of January 2025 was the recognition of the SYMBOL trademark as “well-known”. SYMBOL is Ukraine’s largest fashion retailer of luxury and premium clothing, footwear, and accessories from world-famous brands.
Work on this project began back in 2023. The process took time due to IP system reforms and the creation of a new competent body — the Appeals Chamber of the NOIP.
The entire Ukrainian SION IP team participated in gathering evidence, and the owner’s interests were directly represented by Dr. Natalia Ryazanova — Patent Attorney of Ukraine, Managing Partner, PhD.
Patenting
Our patenting department was very busy this year. The most attractive industry has been complex, mobile, and effective UAV designs and their unique components. The pharmaceutical industry took second place in the number of applications. International patenting is also gaining momentum, with a focus on European procedures and the USA.
Even with the ongoing challenges in Ukraine, foreign applicants remain active. Our reliable partners — research institutions in Poland, Romania, and Hungary — continue to protect their technical research results in Ukraine.
In 2025, the SION IP team filed 174 invention applications and 342 utility model applications worldwide, securing 98 patents.
IP Valuation
Developing IP protection strategies and valuing intangible assets are in high demand. Trademark valuation is our top priority, followed by the valuation of copyrights for computer software, and then patents and know-how.
In 2025, our appraisers conducted 132 studies to determine market value, calculate royalty rates, and help companies put assets on their balance sheets. Our expertise covers over 60 countries.
Most orders for trademark valuation and royalty rate calculations were for EU countries, based on EU trademark certificates.
Blockchain, VR, and the Metaverse
This is a relatively new direction for us, but as you may know, we have unique software to protect copyrights for NFT collections on platforms like OpenSea and Binance. Our software also helps track violators online and remove pirated content. In 2025, our IT specialists helped launch 31 NFT collections using our tools.
We also helped set up crypto payment systems on various online marketplaces and provided full legal support — obtaining crypto licenses and drafting legal documentation (public offers, GDPR, etc.).
Court Practice
Priorities in court cases shifted slightly this year. Disputes regarding micro-lending (disputes with banks and financial institutions about loan returns) took first place. Our attorney, Yuriy Marynychev, has significant experience here and helped over 70 clients break free from financial dependence this year.
Second place goes to IP protection in the fashion segment, mainly trademark rights. Sharing this spot are reputation cases, which are gaining momentum — protecting honor, dignity, and business reputation, often involving ambiguous social media posts.
SION IP attorneys are also active in pre-trial dispute resolution (mediation), especially regarding misunderstandings in the IP field.
Complex Cases
Our team successfully defended the SYMBOL trademark against third-party opposition during its EUIPO registration. We also successfully defended the online luxury marketplace SYMBOL against claims by LORO PIANA regarding potential copyright infringement of a famous loafer model, basing our defense on fashion trends.
Additionally, in the UK, we won a dispute against the famous crypto exchange LEDGER and successfully registered the IP LEDGER trademark.
New Technologies
Given the huge demand for reputation management in 2025, we are highlighting the launch (together with partners) of unique software for removing unwanted content from the Internet. This ensures the reliable removal of content from any social network or browser.
If a statement, article, or photo violates a client’s interests, we can help remove it permanently.
Finally, at the end of this exciting year, we completely rebranded SION IP, launched a new website design, and continue to work on automation and AI testing.
